PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The Vintage Golf Course in the Hunter Valley, an 18-hole Greg Norman designed championship course ranked among Australia’s best, sought to enhance their water features with aerating fountain installations. The course wanted to improve both the visual appeal and water quality of their lake systems while addressing surface weed problems including Azolla growth on their feature waters.
WHAT WE DID:
- Conducted comprehensive site inspection. Assessed each lake system to size and select the most suitable fountain for each specific course lake
- Provided technical installation expertise. Assisted with installation of units while delivering technical knowledge to create optimal functionality and influence of the aerating systems
- Installed targeted fountain solutions. Placed Sprint Allegro surface aerator on the signature Hole 1 lake and Sprint 1.5 surface aerator in the large lake adjacent to Hole 13
- Optimised water movement and oxygenation. Created effective circulation patterns to influence the aquatic ecosystem and improve overall water quality across both systems
CLIENT OUTCOME:
The surface aerator installations delivered significant improvements across both water systems. Hole 1, the main feature of the course, achieved enhanced aesthetics with the complete elimination of the surface-growing weed Azolla. Water quality improvements created favourable conditions that enhanced biodiversity and supported healthier course fauna.
The project demonstrated how creating water movement and adding oxygen into lake systems can positively influence entire aquatic ecosystems. Beyond the visual enhancements for course patrons, the improved water quality and increased biodiversity created a more vibrant natural environment that elevated the overall championship course experience.
PROJECT INSIGHT:
This project illustrates how implementing aeration equipment in golf course water features results in greater illumination and appreciation of aquatic features. The progressive flow-on effects from aquatic habitat enhancement create better interactive experiences for both participants and spectators of the course, demonstrating that water quality improvements deliver benefits far beyond visual appeal.
